American kills 5 fellow soldiers at clinic in Iraq

BAGHDAD ? An American Army sergeant shot and killed five fellow soldiers following an altercation at a military counseling center in Iraq Monday, officials said. The attack drew attention to the issues of combat stress and morale among soldiers serving multiple combat tours over six years of war.

Attacks on fellow soldiers, known as fraggings, were not uncommon during the Vietnam war but are believed to be rare in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A brief U.S. military statement said the assailant was taken into custody following the 2 p.m. shooting at Camp Liberty, a sprawling U.S. base on the western edge of Baghdad near the citys international airport.

President Barack Obama, who visited an adjacent base last month, said in a statement that he was "shocked and deeply saddened" by the report, adding that "my heart goes out to the families and friends" of all those involved "in this horrible tragedy."

clippers remarks: there are more pics at source- but i think u get the picture.....
Just when you think youre on top, the bottom falls out (rack, wires, and all)

Since our last issue we received a bunch of perplexing photos from all over the world, showing unceasing struggle of sysadmins, electricians and sound technicians against the sinister Doom of Second Law of Thermodynamics - the one of increasing entropy.

Even though the struggle seems futile, various stuff still needs to be done - so these pictures of wiring messes testify that somewhere, somehow, someone actually understands where every cable goes and how the whole thing works:

Again in Saigon, what is it about Vietnam and extreme wiring? -

A Funny Thing Happened on the Road to Serfdom

clippers remarks: ??in the spring of 1972, at Tulane University?students asked Alinsky to help plan a protest of a scheduled speech by George H. W. Bush, then U.S. representative to the United Nations - a speech likely to include a defense of the Nixon administration?s Vietnam War policies. The students told Alinsky they were thinking about picketing or disrupting Bush?s address. That?s the wrong approach, he rejoined, not very creative - and besides causing a disruption might get them thrown out of school. He told them, instead, to go to hear the speech dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan, and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards reading, ?The KKK supports Bush.? And that is what they did, with very successful, attention-getting results.?

It wasnt hard then to see in Alinskys programs at home, elements of the peoples revolution from Russia, as well as some of the same "in your face" tactics being employed by Hitlers Brownshirts.

What Alinskys critics saw was the burgeoning of a national movement, the carefully manipulated construction of peoples organizations, which all had two elements in common:  (1) a collectivist creed, which denied the existence of personal responsibility; and (2) an amoral dogma, in which all means were justified by an imaginary utopian end.

While most modern Americans remember well Hitlers Holocaust and the Cold War waged by a solid U.S.S.R., many of these same Americans have swallowed some false history regarding the movements that spawned such widespread, horrendous results.  In what may be regarded as the most triumphant propaganda victory of our time, fascism has been scrubbed of all its Marxist roots, while communism has been scrubbed of  its millions of callous murders.
