Warner Brothers Block POW Film to Foil John McCain

clipped by: Cezanne777
clippers remarks: Here they go again! It is a typical of left-wing Hollywood to shamelessly promote liberal Democrats while dumping on Republicans. Here, they are withholding a Hanoi Hilton documentary that shows American POWs in a favorable light. Supposedly, they dont want to influence the election. Of course, TV had no problem airing similar documentaries that let John McCains Hanoi tormentors to make light of McCains POW experience.

Warner Brothers block release of pro-John McCain film

Warner Brothers has delayed the re-release of a film about American prisoners of war in Vietnam in case it influences the outcome of the US presidential election.

The studio has temporarily blocked the release of the DVD version of the 1987 film Hanoi Hilton, which will feature an interview with John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, about his imprisonment in Hoa Lo prison during the war.

The film, which gave a favourable portrayal of US prisoners, will now be released on November 11 - a week after the election.

Barry Meyer, the companys chairman and chief executive, last month attended a fundraising dinner for Barack Obama, Mr McCains Democratic opponent.

Osama bin Laden is Forgotten

clippers remarks: George Bush sent in forces to catch osama bin laden ... and now the american troops are busy arresting people for money and uprooting ganja plants for resale.

Nice going Yankee, no wonder you cannot be trusted anymore ... like in Vietnam its true in Afghan country.

In an editorial October 15 entitled ?Downward Spiral,? the New York Times calls for the next administration to carry out ?a swift and serious buildup of troops? in Afghanistan.

?The United States will also have to send more troops into Afghanistan and persuade its allies to send more,? the editorial declares

McCains Better Half, Number Two

clipped by: thinkingblue
clippers remarks: Cindy McCain, played a role in the Keating Five S&L scandal, and just as her husband was rehabilitating his reputation, she was caught stealing drugs from her nonprofit organization to feed her addiction to painkillers. She has a fortune that sets the McCains apart from most other Americans, a problem in a presidential race that hinges on economic anxieties. She can be imprecise: she has repeatedly called herself an only child, for instance, even though she has two half-siblings. Those close to her say she aspires to be like another blonde, glamorous figure married to an older man: "Diana, the Princess of Wales" .

Carol McCain, (1st Mrs) worked in the Reagan White House as an event planner. She had stood by her husband during his captivity in N. Vietnam, never passing word of her debilitating car accident, (more about her... http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/carol.asp ) a few years after their reunion, McCain told her, he was leaving her for a younger, richer woman.

Behind McCain, Outsider in Capital Wanting Back In

Cindy McCain was new to Washington and not yet 30 when she arrived at a luncheon for Congressional spouses to discover a problem with her name tag.

It read ?Carol McCain.? That was the well-liked wife John McCain had left to marry Cindy, to the disapproval of many in Washington.

Fearing that the slight was intentional, she slinked to a half-empty table that never filled. ?No one wanted to sit at her table,? said Barbara Ross, a friend who was not surprised when Mrs. McCain announced a few months later that she was moving back to Arizona. ?It was like high school.?

Cindy McCain, the wife of the Republican presidential nominee, has spent the last year pursuing a return to Washington: ?a harsh town? that does not suit her, she has said.

Nor does campaigning,

From the start, Mrs. McCain?s marriage has been defined by her husband?s ambitions,

Family to get Vietnam pilots 100-plus medals

clipped by: sunstreak509

BOSTON ? Helen Tilgner remembers seeing a scar on her fathers left knee when she was 7, and realizing he had won a Purple Heart for being shot during combat in Vietnam.

But she had no idea that her father had won more than 100 medals and awards until this year ? 26 years after he died when his helicopter crashed in Malaysia while he was flying for a private medical rescue company.

On Saturday, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., will present Tilgner and her two sons ? both in the Army ? with the awards won by her father, Chief Warrant Officer Armit Tilgner, more than three decades after he flew helicopter missions in Vietnam.

McCain being crushed by giant elephant

clipped by: georgecf
Clip Source: www.newsweek.com

In a season of ironies, the greatest of all might be that John McCain lacks the toughness to get elected president. During the summer, when he had his best chance, he wasnt tough enough to remake the Republican Party in his own image; instead, he surrendered to a cynical assortment of lobbyists and right-wingers who insisted on a strategic blunder that McCain would recognize from his reading of military history?fighting the last war. In 2004 President Bush won by rallying the base and destroying the Democrat as unpatriotic. They would try to do it again.

But the free-market party of Reagan is dead (thanks to the financial crisis) and the resentment party of Nixon (in the form of the ugly attacks unleashed by McCain and Sarah Palin) may find that its best days are behind it. Where is the party of McCain? The man who survived five and a half years as a Vietnam POW and a thousand political battles is being crushed by a dying elephant.
