Lawyer Mr Cao was born in Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, and came to the US with his family at the age of eight, after the end of the Vietnam War. The election, delayed by Hurricane Gustav, was one of two in Louisiana. Mr Cao won 50% of the vote in the 2nd congressional district, which includes most of New Orleans, to Mr Jeffersons 47%, state officials said. Analysts say the Republicans ran an aggressive campaign to take the seat from Mr Jefferson, 61, who is accused of soliciting millions of dollars in bribes and using his office to broker business deals in Africa. In a search of his home, FBI agents said they found $90,000 in bribe money in a freezer. ![]() Jefferson Intelligent have better spermclipped by: tabseyclippers remarks: This has just created another "ism". (No, not that word!) People will joke about Republicans sperm, for instance. Someone will invent a word and the fun police will add "ism" and then "they" will protest its existence, until it becomes non-existent. Men of higher intelligence tend to produce better quality sperm, UK research suggests. A team from the Institute of Psychiatry analysed data from former US soldiers who served during the Vietnam war era. They found that those who performed better on intelligence tests tended to have more - and more mobile - sperm. The study, which appears in the journal Intelligence, appears to support the idea that genes underlying intelligence may have other biological effects too. Therefore, if tiny mutations impair intelligence, they might also harm other characteristics, such as sperm quality. Conversely, people with robust genes might be blessed with a biological "fitness factor" making them fit, healthy and smart. Previously, scientists tended to assume that lifestyle factors were more likely to underlie any relationship between intelligence and health. For instance, brighter people may be less likely to smoke, and more likely to take exercise, both of which are known to impact on mental performance. And I say "was" because unfortunately Quino decided to discontinue Mafalda 20 years ago after about 10 years of delighting us through newspapers and magazines. As you can notice, the comic is quite old, but nevertheless very uptodate (one can eg replace Vietnam by Iraq or Yugoslavia or whatever). Mafalda was translated to many languages, I know of versions in German, Greek, English, Chinese, etc.
