Recycling Greenpeace Lies

clipped by:ColoradoRight
clippers remarks: Senator John F Kerry (who served in Vietnam) cant even get the lie right. Greenpeace said 2030 and then was called on that lie and their head admitted it on the BBC.

Radical environmentalists love recycling so much that they recycle lies ? and the lies are even bolder when reincarnated. Sen. John Kerry proved it this week when he recycled Greenpeace?s lie about an ice-free Arctic and said it will become a reality even sooner, by 2013.

We exposed Greenpeace?s lie less than two weeks ago on our blog and on Big Hollywood, and forced the group to issue a rare ?clarification.? Our piece and the companion video went viral. Even the pro-environment blog at the left-wing Guardian newspaper acknowledged that ?Greenpeace will be bruised by this furor.?

But none of that exposure kept Kerry, D-Mass., from repeating and amplifying the lie in a predictably hysterical op-ed about ?catastrophic climate change? for the liberal Huffington Post.

Kerry parroted the tired and discredited claim about Arctic ice. ?Scientists project that the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer of 2013,? he wrote. ?Not in 2050, but four years from now.?

Afghanistan: Deja Vu

clipped by:jkrabbit
clippers remarks: As a country we seem to be going down a path that led to a disaster many years ago. Afghanistan is not Vietnam, Vietnam was a country that had a strong foundation, in fact the NVM were one of the best trained military armys in the world, they had foiled attacks form china and japan and sent the French home. Afghanistan is made up of many tribal units that have no love for each other but have a common enemy in the USA, It seems an impossible war to win and many soldiers will die in the meantime, what would happen in the world if we pulled out of Afghanistan, probably nothing, I believe its more about disgrace at this point or possibly their opium crops, there is no other value there that I can see. The ironic part is that at one time we were their friend and helped them defeat the soviets by giving them weapons and training, then we turned our backs on them once the threat was gone.

A postcard from our generations Vietnam

The U.S. strategy is "clear, hold and build." Clear? Taliban forces can evaporate and then return, confident that U.S. forces will forever be too few to hold gains. Hence nation-building would be impossible even if we knew how, and even if Afghanistan were not the second-worst place to try: The Brookings Institution ranks Somalia as the only nation with a weaker state.

It may be a horribly overused quote, but in this case its true: Those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it. Afghanistans destiny seems to be proving the wisdom of Santayanas dictum. What the British and the Soviets couldnt do, America is now trying to accomplish. Judging by whats transpired over the past eight years, its beginning to look like deja vu all over again.

Those who dont understand history really ARE condemned to repeat it...and Id really thought we were smarter than this.
