U.S. Vets Sue CIA For Alleged Drug & Mind Control Experiments

clipped by: cakebelly
clippers remarks: continues: The experiments have been the subject of congressional hearings, and in 2003 the US department of veterans affairs released a pamphlet that said nearly 7,000 soldiers had been involved and more than 250 chemicals used on them, including hallucinogens such as LSD and PCP as well as biological and chemical agents.

It was 1968, and Frank Rochelle was 20 years old and fresh out of Army boot camp when he saw notices posted around his base in Virginia asking for volunteers to test uniforms and equipment.

That might be a good break after the harsh weeks of boot camp, he thought, and signed up.

Instead of equipment testing, though, the Onslow county, North Carolina, native found himself in a bizarre, CIA-funded drug testing and mind-control programme, according to a lawsuit that he and five other veterans and Vietnam Veterans of America filed last week. The suit was filed in federal court in San Francisco against the US department of defence and the CIA.

The plaintiffs seek to force the government to contact all the subjects of the experiments and give them proper healthcare.

New Methods Needed to Combat Bird Flu

clipped by: nedhamson1
clippers remarks: Greed, as well as the need by small farmers to earn once a year extra cash from selling poultry for Tet (Lunar New Year) has and will continue to subvert the means to contain or stop bird flu and even new flu mutations. Introducing a market for collecting and fermenting/digesting manure can defeat the virus and serve needs of farmers.

"They called me a baby killer back then," recalled the 61-year-old combat veteran, who served two tours with the Armys 1st Infantry Division.

He listed many, many relatives who served in the military. Thats just the way it is, he said, in the hills of West Virginia.

Its not only what Stevens saw in Vietnam that haunts him; its that he cant stop seeing it.

If nothing else, it seems as though since Vietnam, Americans have learned to make distinctions between those who initiate wars and those who actually fight them.
